Undoubtedly, Wolverine represents one of the most charming and charismatic heroes in the Marvel Universe and, in particular, of the vast mutants' world. It is probably not a case that Sideshow has devoted a lot of statues to the character, often selecting him as the first hero to launch new product lines (as in the case of the prestigeous 1:2 Legendary Scale Figure or the original Classics cold cast bronze). The Premium format devoted to this key-character dates back to 2009 and was released with an edition size of 1000 samples for the regular version and 700 for the exclusive, equipped with an additional, unmasked head. The statue is rather compact in size (38 x 46 cm and 46 cm tall), with a total weight of 3.63 Kg. The body of the irascible mutant is powerful and massive; it shows an aggressive pose, with the legs bent, a slightly rotated torso and the right arm stretched forward, ready to unleash a deadly blow with the indestructible claws of adamantium. The base represents a rugged and rocky terrain, enriched by a trunk and numerous leaves, exhibiting the awesome autumn colors. The sculpt, realized by the Sideshow Collectibles Design and Development Team, is excellent. The muscles of arms are pumped out of proportion and characterized by swollen veins along both biceps, with a masterful coloring that points out the accentuated and typical down of the character. The classic yellow-blue costume (with side black and pointed patches) is equipped with a large red belt and entirely made of fabric; on the contrary, boots, gloves and shoulder pads are made of resin, while the characteristic, long claws are realized in metal, thus offering a notable realism and a great visual impact. The head of the regular version, with the typical arched and side flaps of the mask, shows the mutant with an open mouth and highlights long and slightly protruding teeth. The beautiful head of the exclusive version, on the contrary, shows the essential somatic features of Logan and is very faithful to the original tables of Comics: in fact, the thick hair (equipped with a delicate tuft on the forehead) and the huge black sideburns unequivocally characterize the face of the hero. Wolverine clenches his teeth on the lower lip in an angry grimace and turns his menacing glaze upward, as to face a taller enemy destined, in all likelihood, to succumb to his devastating fury! The unkempt beard on chin and around the mouth is very realistic and colored in a superb way, as well as the frowned area above the eyes and the nose; these details provide the face with an awesome expressiveness and a great realism. The same realism achieved by the authors by realizing the claws with true metal; moreover, they are very well proportioned with respect to the figure and are equipped with a perfect curvature. In the last years the quotations of this Premium Format on collectibles' market have reached rather high values and the general availability is quite poor, almost comparable to the older and very sought-after Comiquette. On the other hand, the unquestionable charisma of the character, the stunning sculptural quality and the overall visual impact make this piece a very fine collectible for all fans.
